Sustainability
As part of Clarion Events, Imago Techmedia are committed to long-term reduction and mitigation of our emissions and we are part of their pledge to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030 and reach Net Zero by 2050 at the latest.
We work with suppliers who share our values and beliefs and support us in developing better ways of working. This includes working collaboratively to ensure that together we achieve wider environmental and social benefits.
AV
The AV equipment supplied were the most energy efficient in the price range when purchased. Whenever they need replacing, the energy consumption is reviewed to ensure better energy saving devices are purchased.
Carpet
The carpet used is not only environmentally friendly, it is “Cradle to Cradle Certified”®, which is the global standard for safe, circular, and responsibly made products.
Catering
50% of the catering menus serve plant-forward, vegan or vegetarian options and 80% of their menus use British seasonal fruit and vegetables. Used cooking oil is collected for recycling into biofuel. HVO is used for plant and machinery across the venue which has up to 93% emissions saving compared to white diesel.
Stand Build
Our stands framework and furniture are re-used, whilst graphics are recycled. To reduce transportation, all stand items are delivered to the show together in full vehicles that are modified to reduce carbon emissions and fuel consumption.
Venue
Excel uses 100% renewable electricity, send zero waste to landfill (and haven’t done so since 2012) and house one of the UK’s largest wormeries. All gas is accounted for through Voluntary Carbon Offsets. There are water fountains installed throughout the venue with the result of 200,000 fewer plastic bottles usage every year. The venues waterless urinals save enough water to fill 6 Olympic size swimming pools each year. There is a living wall along the promenade which has over 9,000 plants which remove air pollutants. They have also signed up to the Net Zero Carbon Events pledge mentioned above. They use the TRACE platform to help measure and minimise carbon in real-time.
